This Christmas time my heart reflects
On three young lives I never met.
These lives were ended far too soon
Like flower buds that failed to bloom.
And now three empty seats I see
Gathered round our Christmas tree.

Three stockings I will never fill.
Three sleds I’ll never push downhill.
Three rosy cheeks I’ll never kiss.
Three tiny voices will be missed
When Christmas carols fill the night
And Christmas lights are burning bright
Three Gifts by Mary Lou Tiner
And though I’ll often wonder why
When Christmas fills the evening sky
Why these three babies I won’t see
Bouncing on their Grandpa’s knee.
But still I know God’s gifts are best
And I can trust Him with the rest.
But there beneath our Christmas tree
Are three bright gifts, not all can see.
These gifts wrapped in sorrow and in pain
Revealed His grace and brought His gain.
Each gift is a sweet memory
Of how God’s love brought peace to me.
Written in honor of our three grandbabies we lost this past year, through miscarriages. We rejoice knowing they are celebrating their first Christmas, nestled in the arms of Jesus.
